      1. Yeah, The Daily Show and The Colber(t) Repor(t) are as aggressive as Disney when it comes to posting their content. I’ve tired to embed videos per their instructions, but WordPress doesn’t seem willing to cooperate (or, more likely, I don’t really know what I’m doing).

        1. No, it’s WordPress. Most of the embed code these days uses Javascript, and WordPress strips JS out, which lobotomizes the embed. And whatever the Colbert site uses, WordPress can’t process the URLs like it does for Youtube, Vimeo, etc. Annoying.

  5. I didn’t want to comment until I’d had a chance to watch the entire show (I tend to watch both Colbert’s and Stewart’s shows from the previous week on the following Monday). I found Obama’s “comedy bit” excruciating. The man has zero comic ability, and I think he’s even pretty awful at just giving speeches (as parodied in that very bit).

    But what I wanted to mention: Did you notice he called Stephen “Bill” at one point? It’s in the interview part about the Keystone pipeline. The audience reacted a little, but both President Obama and Colbert sailed right past it. I wondered if the President was channeling the Bill O’Reilly interview.

    1. I have to admit I haven’t watched the whole show, just the sequence in the video. I actually loved the skit, but heard the interview was lackluster, so I didn’t go out of my way to watch it. But since Bill O’Reilly has always been Colbert’s…inspiration for his persona, I wouldn’t find it surprising that Obama might do a Freudian slip there.

      1. I know, right? The interview took both the ‘B’ and ‘C’ blocks and the ‘B’ block was almost entirely political talking point responses from President Obama. I actually thought he seemed a bit nervous or flustered at times.

        The ‘C’ block was a little more relaxed, and I did find his response to Stephen’s question about Executive Power thoughtful and interesting.

        What I want to know is: Smaug on Thursday’s show… CGI or animatronic? It sure seemed physical, but what a magnificent, detailed and huge machine if so. Either way, it was awesome — best part of the Colbert week.
