Anthropologists are constantly pointing out that the range of human behavior is vast. Whenever people start thinking they’ve figured out the human condition, it always pays to test that understanding by looking at other societies. Most of us are WEIRD (western, educated, industrialize, rich, and democratic) and experience only a narrow slice of possible societies.
