In a new national poll on America’s scientific acumen, more than half of respondents said they were “not too confident” or “not at all confident” that “the universe began 13.8 billion years ago with a big bang.”

  1. Well, it might not have sounded like a bang, because of the vacuum of space, but the instantaneous expansion of our universe was certainly not less than 13 billion years ago.
    The creationist fictional account putting the earth at only 3000-5000 years ago means that dogs were domesticated several thousands of years prior. As Dawkins so wonderfully puts it, creationism is erroneous. 🙂

    1. Agreed about the big bang and creationism.

      Actually, I’d imagine that it was a very loud noise. If we were around to hear it and could avoid being vaporized, the sound waves in the young universe’s high density would probably destroy us instantly.
